Technical Writer/Document Specialist

Background

Zope Corporation (ZC) hosts integrated solutions for content management, classifieds, citizen journalism, blogging, video, and federated search. The Company wants to improve product usability through documentation. Documentation will sometimes precede software user-interface development, to help determine that what's proposed, is easy to explain and understand. To accomplish the above ZC wants an individual who will:

Responsibilities

1. Develop and maintain documentation (on-line and written) plus training materials for existing products.
2. Develop User Manuals in advance of software implementation to focus on ease of use and trainability.

Experience/Skills

1. Write technical documentation for user manuals, systems, programs, procedures.
2. Demonstrate abilities to use new software applications and express complex ideas to less technical users.
3. Demonstrate problem solving skills e.g., think about how the user is using the software and how they might use it better if the software behaved differently.
4. Training people to use software applications.

Will Need:

1. Facile with the MAC and be able to use a text editor. (e.g., TextMate, macromates.com, has a 30-day free trial)

3. reStructured text: docutils.sourceforge.net/rst.html
