Zope Software System

Zope is a unique software system: a high-performance application server, a web server, and a content management system. It is a complete, self-contained solution, that includes a robust, scalable object database, web services architecture, and powerful programming capabilities. It is designed for customization and extensibility. Its components integrate tightly with a wide range of leading web server and database systems. Zope promotes rapid creation and deployment of complex applications, totally manageable through a web interface. All of this, and complete open source access, are provided without cost. There are no licensing or runtime fees for the software. Costs come into play when customers engage the Company to modify the software to implement their unique requirements.

The centralized model of Web serving has shifted towards more efficient infrastructure technologies that leverage the Internet's edge for distributed computing. The development of ESI is one such technology that is impacting the way enterprise applications are written and deployed. We are excited by the work of Zope Corporation to develop ESI in Squid. This will dramatically help in the creation of dynamic, open source applications, while also allowing enterprises to extend the reach of their applications across the Akamai platform. We look forward to this being one of many third party implementations of ESI.
